The mark consists of a pair of concentric circles, with the literal element "UNIVERSIDAD DE PUERTO RICO", a dot, the number "1903", and a second dot written in circular text included inside said pair of concentric circles and outside a second pair of concentric circles, and inside the second pair of concentric circles is the design of a shield separated in different parts, with a lamb sitting in a book holding a flag on the top and two leaf branches on the bottom which extend to the sides, contained inside the top left part of the shield is a roman temple, a palm tree, the sun, a mountain, and the ocean, contained inside the top right part of the shield is a second roman temple with a palm tree in the middle, contained inside the middle left part of the shield are two snakes wrapped around a stick in the shape of a double helix with two wings in the top, contained inside the center part of the shield is a book with a helm in front and a genie lamp in the top, contained inside the middle right part of the shield is the island of Puerto Rico with an atom in the front and a lighting bolt in the back, contained inside the bottom left part of the shield is an animal over a mountain, contained inside the bottom middle part of the shield a tree, and contained inside the bottom right part of the shield is an owl on a tree branch.
