The mark consists of a design of a Class Ring with embossed designs and wording on the ring. The top of the ring contains a design of a seal formed by two concentric ovals with circumferences formed by a braided design, with the wording "THE MILITARY COLLEGE OF S.C. ·1842 ·" around the circumference of the outermost oval, and with the center of the seal containing a design of a Palm Tree and leaves. The two ovals in the center of the seal are not a part of the mark. Around the braided circumference of the outermost oval in the seal are a series of quadrilaterals. Each side of the ring contains embossed designs and wording. One side of the ring features a design of a star with radiating lines representing the Star of the West medal, two stylized crossed flags and staffs that suggest the flags of the United States and South Carolina, a design of a pyramid formed by cannon balls, with designs of oak and laurel leaves in the background. The remaining side of the ring features the wording "THE CITADEL", a design of a crossed sword and a crossed rifle over a laurel wreath and ribbon, a design of spays of laurel and oak, and a scroll containing the word "CITADEL". The dotted lines shown in the mark depict the outline of the configuration of the mark, which is not claimed as a feature of the mark.
