The mark consists of a shield colored metallic gold with a grey border around the metallic gold and a dark blue border around the grey border. The words "SAN DIEGO" are capitalized in dark blue across the top of the shield. The dark blue letters have a white border around the dark blue letters and then a light blue border around the white border. The word "SOCKERS" is capitalized in dark blue using the letter "S" from "SAN DIEGO" and angling down across the shield from the top left to the bottom right. Below the words "SAN DIEGO" and to the right of the word "SOCKERS" is a triangle colored dark blue with a grey border. Inside the dark blue triangle are thirteen stars colored metallic gold. The stars are arranged in rows with the top row containing four stars, the row underneath containing three stars, the row underneath containing three stars, the row underneath containing two stars and the bottom row containing one star. To the left of the word "SOCKERS" is a second triangle colored dark blue with a grey border. Inside the triangle at the bottom there is an apostrophe and the number "78" colored metallic gold. Above the apostrophe and the number "78" is a dark blue colored bridge, several dark blue colored skyscrapers depicting the San Diego downtown skyline, and a light blue night sky with white stars highlighted in metallic gold.
