Description of Design Search

The mark consists of a border of yellow outlined in black. Its straight horizontal base 9/16ths as wide as the width at its top. The top border is a convex curve. The side borders connect the outer points of the base border with the outer points of the top border. Directly beneath the convex top border is the word NORWOOD in upper case bold Arial font. Directly above the straight horizontal base is the word POLICE in upper case bold Arial font. The words NORWOOD and POLICE are the same size. Centered in the space below the word NORWOOD and above the word POLICE, and centered between the two side borders is the town seal of the Town of Norwood, Massachusetts. A ring that surrounds the seal at its outer edge has within the ring the words TOWN-OF-NORWOOD-MASS which starts at the mid point of the left side of the seal's ring and ending at the mid point on the right. The words INC-FEB 23-1872 run within the ring at the bottom. All characters within the ring are of the same size. Within the ring is the depiction of a scene featuring Captain Aaron Guild. Captain Guild is in the center of the seal standing and facing the right side of the seal wearing a three-point colonial cap, a beige coat, brown pants to the knee, blue socks from the knee to the shoe and grey shoes. He is holding a musket vertically against his right shoulder. To the right of Guild is the depiction of trees, and to the left two oxen facing away from the point of view. The background above the scene is light blue, depicting the sky, and below it is green, representing grass. Within the lower portion of the ring are the words AARON GUILD-APR. 19, 1775.
