The mark consists of a drawing of the side view of a sailfish, the body of which resembles the shapes of the five Gulf Coast states (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida) as they appear on a typical United States map. The top left-hand side of the body of the sailfish roughly resembles the northern borders of Texas and Louisiana on a map. The lower half of the sailfish is in the shape of the southern-most portions of the five Gulf Coast states bordering on the Gulf of Mexico (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida), as they appear on a typical map of the United States. The exterior boundary of the sailfish is royal blue. The pectoral (side) fin of the sailfish is royal blue, and the etchings on the dorsal (top) fin of the sailfish are royal blue. The top half of the tail fin of the sailfish is royal blue. The dorsal (top) fin is filled in light blue. There is a swath of orange around the lateral line of the sailfish, behind the pectoral (side) fin. The eye of the sailfish is black. Beneath the eye of the sailfish is a swath of ecru. In the lower half of the body of the sailfish, the boundaries of each state represented are drawn in royal blue, with the remainder of the lower half filled in ecru.
