Frequently Asked Questions
What is the filing date of my trademark and how is the filing date determined?
If you place an order over the Internetthrough Trademarkia, the filing date is the date the transmission reaches the UnitedStates Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) server after an attorneyrepresenting you through Trademarkia reviews your matter, in Eastern StandardTime. This is usually 3 or 4 days after you fill out a trademark registrationrequest through Trademarkia. The USPTO relies on a filing date to assesspriority among applications. Receiving a filing date does not mean that youhave satisfied ALL registration requirements. To obtain a registration, youmust comply with all application requirements and overcome any refusal(s)issued by the USPTO during the trademark examination. An attorney thatrepresents you through Trademarkia can help you through the process.
