The mark consists of a red oval band with black borders; inside the band, beginning at approximately seven o'clock and running around the top ending at approximately five o'clock, are the words "BOARD OF CERTIFICATION IN EMERGENCY MEDICINE" in black banded gold letters; centered at the bottom of the band are the words "ORGANIZED IN 1986" in white letters; the middle of the oval shows the back of a slightly out of focus red, yellow and black ambulance with the doors open, the yellow lights shining and the black silhouette of a person standing between the open doors; in the vertical center of the oval is a black banded gold staff with a black banded gold snake wrapped around it, similar to a Staff of Asclepius, and in the horizontal center of the oval are the letters "BC" to the left of the Staff of Asclepius and "EM" to the right of the Staff of Asclepius in black banded white letters.
