The mark consists of artwork showing a gold and yellow medal bearing the wording "1988 DORTMUNDER GOLD" and images of a building, a barrel and wheat all in shades of gold and yellow, the medal affixed to a red, white and dark blue ribbon superimposed in portions over a cityscape with buildings shown in gold and the sky in light blue.
