The mark consists of a brown shield with a yellow band outlining the shield. The yellow band is also outlined in black. In the center of the shield is four concentric circles. The innermost circle is white, the second circle is yellow, the third circle is brown and the fourth circle is yellow. Each circle is outlined in black. Inside the white circle is an inverted yellow triangle with a yellow rectangle superimposed on it. Both the triangle and rectangle are outlined in black. In the upper part of the triangle is the wording "ST. LOUIS COUNTY" in black. Within the rectangle is the wording "POLICE" in red, outlined in black. In the upper half of the third circle is the wording "TO SERVE AND PROTECT" in white, and in the lower half of the third circle is the wording "ST. LOUIS CO. MISSOURI" in white. Between the two sets of wording are white eight pointed stars on either side. In the upper portion of the brown shield is the wording "POLICE" in yellow.
