I've run across numerous posts (here and other sites) saying this product has caused permanent hearing loss in dogs. I'm researching it because the same thing happened to us recently. Feel free to contact me at if you want to compare notes. I hope to file complaints with every agency imaginable.

My dog was given an oti-pack E for minor er infection, vet told me my dog would have temporary hearing loss for 2wks. Its now been 2 months and he is permanetly deaf, took him to a specialist and no one seems to be able to help me. We were not told that a side affect could be permanent hearing loss.

Our 12 year old male cat has had a chronic ear problem for quite some time now. Our vet treated it with Mometamax which worked the first go around, the issue came back and the same treatment was used which did nothing. We took him to a different vet who did a culture and determined huge amounts of yeast. She treated him with the Oti-Pack and had us return in 2 weeks when his ears were flushed and the treatment was applied a second time. He is like a 12 year old kitten and it's obvious how much better he feels. The new vet also gave him a steroid shot and antibiotics for 7 days on the first visit.

Our almost 12 year old Llasa-poo was treated with Oti-pack e for a mild/moderate ear infection in one ear & because of some signs of bacteria in the other. He acted as though his hearing was effected immediately following, but thought that was due to the waxy consistency of the medicine muffling sound. After 5 days our vet was contacted because he didn't seem to hear at all. She seemed concern & he was brought in the next business day for ear flushing. Our ve said it took apx.15 times to get the majority of the remaining medicine out. That was last night and he shows no signs of regaining any hearing. I see now others have had similar experiences so don't understand why this is not explained to be a possible side effect.
