The mark consists of the literal element "MESA EST. 1898" represented in stylized font and a design consisting of a graphic representation of a Maltese Cross comprising four sections plus a center region, wherein the Cross contains a graphic representation of a fire hydrant in its left section, a graphic representation of a hook implement and straight ladder in its right section, the word "MESA" in its upper section, the terms "EST. 1898" in its lower section, a graphic representation of the Star of Life emergency symbol, comprising a six-pointed star with a Caduceus which features the rod of Asclepius in its center in the Cross's center area, wherein the center area is surrounded by a graphic representation of a fire hose in the shape of a circle with a spigot on one end of the hose and a connector fitting on the other end, and wherein further the Maltese Cross is superimposed upon intersecting portions of the handles of two diagonally crossed axes.
