Frequently Asked Questions

How do you register a trademark internationally?

To register a trademark internationally, start with a registered or pending trademark in your home country and then file an international application through the Madrid System, administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

This system allows you to seek protection in multiple member countries with a single application, simplifying the process. Submit your application to your home country’s trademark office, which forwards it to WIPO for examination.

Once approved, WIPO publishes the mark in the International Gazette and notifies the trademark offices of the designated countries.

Each country then conducts its own examination according to its national laws. If there are no objections or if they are resolved, your trademark gains protection in the chosen countries, providing comprehensive international trademark rights.
