(1) - Staff and volunteers facilitate physical fitness programs for populations with special needs designed to enhance cardio respiratory endurance, upper and lower body strength and endurance, flexibility, balance and coordination for participants; deliver physical fitness programs to participants via in-home visits and in group settings; develop health promotion sessions and disseminate supplemental resources for wellness education; develop and provide staff training for execution and performance of physical fitness and educational programs; develop and provide volunteer training for delivery of functional physical fitness programs as needed; provide outreach to populations with special needs 55+, multicultural communities, physically and intellectually challenged community members and persons managing chronic disease(s); research and analyze gaps in current services available and assist in initiating a functional fitness continuum through ongoing consultation and collaboration with healthcare, rehabilitation and fitness professionals and organizations; identify and address emerging needs for physical activity interventions to prevent illnesses associated with a sedentary lifestyle through the development, evaluation and provision of physical fitness programs; develop and disseminate evidence-based models for both the exercise component and overall program delivery of physical fitness programs for populations with special needs; evaluate effectiveness of physical fitness programs.
