(1) - The identification and development of Canadian athletes who have the qualities required to be international champions in their sport by promoting greater sport system coordination and a more efficient use of existing resources so that athletes who, once identified, are provided a clear and direct pathway to future success in a sport and program that best suits their abilities; the operation of talent identification camps testing athletes' capacity for sport performance at its highest level; the provision of basic physiological and anthropomorphic testing for athletes to determine how they measure up to national standards; the selection of athletes for development programs and national development programs designed to propel athletes from their developmental stages to national selection; the provision of a high performance environment for athletes, namely, access to sports training facilities, sports coaches, sports scientists, sports medicine, sports psychologists, sports physiotherapy and career advice, and the provision of basic field-testing sessions for athletes, namely, access to physical and psychological testing in the field of sports.
(2) - Printed instructional and educational materials, namely, handbooks, books, newsletters, bulletins, pamphlets, manuals, brochures and reports; printed matter, namely, calendars, directories; electronic publications, namely, on-line handbooks, books, newsletters, bulletins, pamphlets, reports, manuals, brochures and reports; clothing, namely, shirts, t-shirts shorts, sweatpants, sweatshirts, jackets, swimwear, gloves and socks; headgear, namely, caps, beanies, balaclavas, bandannas, headscarves, headbands, sweatbands, skull caps and toques; novelty, promotional and souvenir items, namely, pennants, flags, balloons, buttons, key chains, key fobs, coffee mugs, pens, pencils, patches, transfers, labels and ribbons.
