Description:

(1) - Providing injury prevention and care for the general population, including, without limitation, athletes and sports participants.
(2) - Operation of a voluntary association providing for: (i) The certification and governing of athletic therapists; (ii) Promotion and development of the profession of athletic therapy. Promotion of the profession is delivered through a national website that promotes the profession and the services provided by an athletic therapist. Furthermore, the profession is promoted through attendance at national conferences where the delegates are professionals or companies that seek the services of an athletic therapist. Marketing packages are designed to promote the profession of athletic therapy and the applicant. These marketing packages describe what an athletic therapist is, the services provided by an athletic therapist, individuals and/or organizations who use athletic therapists, how an athletic therapist is certified and information on the applicant and it regional chapters; and (iii) Establishment of minimum educational and other standards for the practices of athletic therapy and establishment and maintenance of guidelines with respect to professional practice, conduct, ethics and competence.
(3) - Printed materials, namely, journals, reports, treatises, handbooks, books, manuals, pamphlets, brochures, posters, leaflets and flyers and other publications including abstracts, conference proceedings and research papers related to the services provided by the association.
