The mark consists of two unsheathed swords laying parallel to each other with their tips pointing up. The swords lay on top of an oval wreath of laurel bundles. A continuous scroll winds around the swords. Printed on the scroll is the word "JOINT" on top and the words "CHIEFS OF STAFF" at the bottom. Two crossed unsheathed swords lay on top of the continuous scroll. The point and grips of all the swords lay on the wreath. Centered on top of the four swords is a medieval Heater style shield. The top portion of the shield is a dark, solid rectangular design. Underneath that are 13 vertical alternating light and dark parallel stripes of equal width.
