The mark consists of a circular emblem containing two large rings and two small rings set upon a five-pointed star. The inner most circle features the wording "US" with a small circle between the letters. Around the inner circle is a larger circle featuring eighteen small circles. Outside this circle is a five point star. Surrounding the star is a wreath which is bordered by a larger circle. Outside this circle is a larger circle featuring the word "AMERICAN" at the top and "LEGION" at the bottom, surrounded by a decorative border featuring lines and zigzag edges, all superimposed over two crossed rifles.
